PERSPECTIVAS A FUTURO
Mantente curioso, flexible y siempre dispuesto a escuchar.

Innovation with Purpose: Rasmus Sojmark’s Approach to Transforming the Gaming Industry
In an industry where the pace of change is the only constant, Rasmus Sojmark has discovered a powerful formula: truly listening, innovating with purpose, and building community. As CEO and founder of SBC & Sport Global Group, he has turned his events into spaces where trends are anticipated, opportunities are connected, and the future is discussed in depth.
From the rise of artificial intelligence to the need for effective self-regulation, Sojmark speaks with conviction about the challenges facing the global gaming industry—but also about the excitement of leading a sector with such immense creative and technological potential.
LEADERSHIP AND STRATEGY IN A DYNAMIC MARKET
1. SBC Events has experienced exponential growth in recent years. What has been the key to staying competitive in such a fast-changing and globalized industry?
The key has always been listening (REALLY listening) to the needs of the industry. We never assume we know best.
Instead, we’re engaging with stakeholders, understanding their challenges, and building our events around those insights. That approach, combined with a genuine desire to offer a top and memorable experience for our attendees, is what drives everything we do.
But if I had to highlight one element that truly sets us apart, it’s the passion of the people who work at SBC. We’re lucky to have a team that genuinely cares—not just about the success of our events but about the industry itself.
2. In a market with multiple gaming events each year, how does SBC Events differentiate itself and provide real value to attendees and exhibitors?
For me, it’s always been about building events we’d actually want to attend ourselves—where you can learn, connect, and have a great time doing it.
Education is a big focus for us. We’re always testing new formats like workshops and academies to make learning more hands-on and impactful.
We’ve also got dedicated teams who work directly with operators and affiliates—not just to get them there, but to make sure they’re supported and walk away with real value.
And we care about the full experience—from hotel deals and shuttles to free food, drinks, and networking dinners. Lately, we’ve even taken it a step further by organising our own INFINITY networking parties with DJs like Steve Aoki, Alok, and Afrojack. It’s our way of giving back to the community and making the events truly unforgettable.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN THE GAMING INDUSTRY
3. AI is transforming the personalization of user experiences in casinos and sports betting. What role do you think AI will play in the evolution of the industry in the coming years?
Who would’ve thought that Google might stop being the go-to search engine for so many people? These days, a lot of us turn to ChatGPT for more well-rounded answers instead of going through countless pages on Google, hoping to find what we need.
AI makes things simpler. As creatures who naturally gravitate toward convenience, it’s no surprise we’re leaning on it more and more. There’s a clear behavioural shift happening, and of course, the betting and gaming industry is picking up on that.
AI’s influence is only growing. Personalised content, tailored betting suggestions, smarter risk management, fraud detection, and intelligent customer support… We’re just scratching the surface of what’s possible.
That said, concerns around AI are completely valid. With so much to talk about around the topic, we’re actively weaving the AI angle into nearly every agenda we build.
4. Do you believe artificial intelligence will be an ally in enhancing security and responsible gaming, or is there a risk that it could also be used to boost less ethical business models?
Power can be good or bad. It really depends on who has it in their hands, right? It’s an old tale, and the same applies here.
AI has incredible potential to be a force for good in our industry. It can help operators identify problematic behaviours early, offer personalised interventions, and ultimately create a safer, more responsible environment for players.
But like any powerful tool, it can also be misused—whether that’s pushing engagement strategies too aggressively or exploiting vulnerable behaviours.
That’s why it’s so important that we, as an industry, set the right standards and stay committed to ethical innovation. Because if we don’t get it right, the regulators will have a go at doing it themselves.
REGULATION AND ITS IMPACT ON INDUSTRY GROWTH
5. With constant regulatory changes in key markets, how can operators stay agile and prevent new regulations from hindering their growth?
The operators that tend to navigate these changes successfully are the ones that view regulation not as a hurdle but as a key part of their strategy.
It comes down to being proactive rather than reactive.
Investing in strong legal and compliance teams, keeping open lines of communication with regulators, and staying plugged into the global conversation. That’s part of what we aim to facilitate at SBC: bringing together key stakeholders to learn from each other.
The most successful businesses are those that build flexibility into their models. If you can align compliance with innovation, you’re in a strong position to adapt and thrive.
But there has to be more self-policing too. If the industry can act sensibly when there are contentious issues, regulators will feel less pressure to step in and implement more changes.
MONETIZATION, INNOVATION, AND BUSINESS MODELS
6. SBC Events brings together industry leaders, investors, and startups. What are the most innovative trends currently attracting capital?
There’s a strong appetite right now for innovation that drives both engagement and scalability.
AI and machine learning continue to attract attention, though we’ve already touched on that.
Gamification is gaining ground—solutions that create immersive, “stickier” player experiences are resonating with both users and investors.
Data-driven startups are also on the rise, offering advanced analytics and odds tools that help operators and media make smarter decisions.
That’s why we host the First Pitch competition at major events like SBC Summit and SBC Summit Americas. It gives investors early access to some of the most exciting startups in the industry, and we’re seeing more and more pitch decks coming our way.
THE EVOLUTION OF EVENTS AND THE ATTENDEE EXPERIENCE
7. In a world where digitalization has changed the way people engage with events, how is SBC adapting to remain relevant and enhance the attendee experience?
One of the biggest steps we’ve taken is developing the SBC Connect app in-house. It gives attendees more control, letting them connect with others before the event, schedule meetings, and navigate the venue with ease.
During the event, push notifications keep them updated on key sessions, networking moments, and last-minute changes.
We’ve also added interactive elements like QR code submissions during panel discussions, so attendees can ask questions and be part of the conversation.
And our interactive floor plans are a real game-changer, especially at larger shows, making it simple to find stands, lounges, and conference rooms.
FUTURE PERSPECTIVES
8. Looking ahead, what advice would you give to entrepreneurs and operators seeking to stay competitive in the gaming industry?
Stay curious, stay agile, and never stop listening.
Build products and strategies around real user needs, not assumptions.
Prioritise responsible practices from day one.
Surround yourself with the right people, and keep an open mind to collaboration.
And most importantly, don’t just chase trends. Understand them, question them, and find ways to add real value. That’s what builds longevity.
